Palau, island country located in the western Pacific Ocean, which is one of the primary producers of giant clams in aquaculture farms, has the legend relating to the ancient era of Chuab when was no life on earth.

In the long ago, before the time of people and animals, even before the time of land, all that could be seen was the empty sea. From the ocean's depths arose a volcanic mountain. On the very top, where the spirits of the seas and the heavens touched, sat a giant clam. Silently. Not moving. Never speaking. But growing.

The giant clam grew and grew, its thick white shell spreading strong and far and its soft, sweet middle bulging thick and pregnant with life. But the clam could not give birth.

Ucheleanged, the greatest of the gods, sent a mighty storm. Waves crashed against the thick shell. Thunder roared, shaking the sea. Finally, from the deepest trough, a tidal current ripped upward, tearing at the clam, splitting open its inner body and spewing into the sea all the many forms of life.

Beads from Giant Clams usually are yellowish-white, but sometimes shell is perfect quality, and beads are pure white.
